Ohio Department of Mental Health Ohio Empowerment Center

Ohio Empowerment Center

Starting in December, 2008, thirty consumers and representatives of several statewide organizations interested in consumer advocacy met multiple times to begin discussion on the development of a new statewide consumer advocacy organization. On March 11, 2009, the Founding Members voted to become known as the Ohio Empowerment Center (OEC).

Work Groups and Guidance Team

To move forward, OEC established four work groups with assigned responsibilities as well as a guidance team. Each work group meets between the monthly OEC meetings.  A document describing the purpose and membership of each work group and the guidance team is available for download.
