Information For Family Members and Visitors

Admission
Local mental health centers refer patients to Summit Behavioral Healthcare by determining whether someone meets criteria for admission. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide service for direct admissions or "walk-ins." Please contact your local mental health center for assistance.

Services provided
Summit Behavioral Healthcare provides recovery-based inpatient services to civil and forensic mentally ill adults. Summit Behavioral Healthcare also provides outpatient services.

Family and Visitors
Family and friends may visit their loved ones but not bring items such as: alcohol, drugs, glass, weapons, metal cans, metal hangers, scissors, razors, electrical cords or radios / televisions (unless approved by the treatment team), tape recorders, cameras, tools, lighters or matches.

Visiting Hours
Monday through Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday and Holidays, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional times will be added for Christmas, New Year's Eve, Easter and Thanksgiving holidays.

Check in for visitation,, which begins 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visiting times. Visitors are requested to arrive at least 30 minutes before visitation ends.

Patients are able to visit the entire visiting period or as long as their visitors can stay. Visitors are requested to visit with only one patient at a time unless the patients are related. We stress only four visitors per patient per visit.
